- 4/27/2005 As Compiled By Cal-Hi Sports Three local players and one coach garner All-State honors from the prestigious Cal-Hi Sports publication. Congratulations to Santa Cruz's Junior Russell for being named the Division III State Player of the Year, Santa Cruz's Cliff Sammet for being named to the Division III All-State team, and to Pacific Grove's Troy Smith for being named to the Division IV All-State team! Congratulations also to Santa Cruz coach Pete Newell for being named State Coach of the Year!
- 4/7/2005 ROSTERS ANNOUNCED.... The Kiwanis Club of Salinas is pleased to announce the 19th Annual North-South All-Star Basketball Classic will be held on Saturday, April 9 at Hartnell College. The game will involve the top-graduating seniors from the Tri-County (Santa Cruz, San Benito, and Monterey) area playing their first college format basketball game. The girls will play at 6:00 p.m. with the boys at 7:45 p.m.
