Quotes
of the Week
|
Mike
Ironside |
Monterey
County Herald |
"They had a
rough week, but they came through," Salinas coach Mike
Ironside said of the Cowboys, who despite a losing record
(2-6 overall, 0-2 in the Tri-County Athletic League) gave
the Balers (6-1-1, 3-0) more than enough to handle.
"The kids gave a super effort," Ironside said.
"They played their hearts out." |
|
Jeff
Carnazzo |
Monterey
County Herald |
"We control our
own destiny," Carnazzo said. "The kids know that
if we take care of business, we can still win a league
title. |
|
Bill
Garrison |
Register
Pajaronian |
"We love this
week," said longtime Mariners coach Bill Garrison, who
hoisted the Black and Blue trophy as his players celebrated
after the game. "It's a great time for us. We look
forward to it every year." |
|
Chris
Cameron |
Hollister
Freelance |
We knew they were going to be
a real physical team, said coach Chris Cameron.
Records are deceiving. We showed a lot of heart and hung
in there. They (the Cowboys) were doing good things, but we
came up with some big stops. |
|
Doug
Morris |
Santa
Cruz Sentinel |
"We had to win this
game," Cougars coach Doug Morris said. "We just
lost two games we felt we were in. We lost control of our
destiny. Im not sure how the playoffs are shaping up.
Were just trying to win one game at a time. But Im
proud of the team for coming out strong and not giving
up."
|
|
Buck
Roggeman |
Santa
Cruz Sentinel |
"Our receivers just went up
and got it," Pacific Grove coach Buck Roggeman said.
"When you throw the ball deep like that, the
quarterback has to put it where only the receiver can get
it. Soquel is a great team, we had to play our very best to
beat them."
|
|
Ron
Myers |
Santa
Cruz Sentinel |
"If you dont learn
something," Soquel coach Ron Myers said after the game,
his voice trailing off. "You better learn something
from a game like this."
|
|
Greg
Garcia |
Gilroy
Dispatch |
We set a goal before the
season for two goose eggs, GHS defensive coordinator Greg
Garcia said. We came close against Watsonville and almost
had it against North County. They came through tonight.
Thats the first thing I congratulated them on
afterward. |
|
Glen
Webb |
Morgan
Hill Times |
The kids havent had to deal
with adversity the entire year, Webb said. They are
going to learn from this. No body who wins this league will
be undefeated. This league will probably end in a two or
three-way championship. |
