Week
5 By The Numbers
|
1073 |
Carmel
quarterback Jeff Foudy leads all area quarterbacks with 1073
yards passing and 12 touchdown passes. Foudy has passing
efforts of 142, 375, 171, 193 and 192 yards.
|
12 |
It
has been a tough season for point-afters: just last week alone
area teams missed 12 extra points.
|
9 |
9
different players have scored touchdowns for Palma this
season.
|
5 |
It
was a career day from S.L.V. receiver Matt Kiel, who hauled in
6 passes for 239 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 42-14
victory over Watsonville. Kiel had touchdown catches of 60,
56, 7, 26, and 65 yards. Kiel scored 30 points in the contest;
24 points via touchdown, and 6 points as the Cougar place-kicker.
|
4 |
It
was a tough week for running backs: only 4 quad-league
players cracked 100 yards in week 5.
|
2 |
Down
to 2: through week five, only Gilroy and Live Oak
remain undefeated. Live Oak has surrendered the fewest points
(49) in the quad-league area; Gilroy has surrendered the
third-fewest points (56) in the quad league area. Yet unlike
Salinas, Palma and Hollister, neither team has taken on a
state-ranked opponent in the preseason.
|
Note:
We still need game stats from :
Seaside
vs. Washington (Fremont)
Carmel vs. Branham
Monterey vs. King City
Any
help getting us the score by quarter, scoring breakdown and
individual game stats would be greatly appreciated.

where we can play four quarters," Olson said. "And
were going to play four quarters, so expect us to be
there at the end of the game." |
|
Buck
Roggeman |
Salinas
Californian |
"I was disappointed in the
turnovers, but I was proud of my players for fighting
through them," said Pacific Grove Head Coach Buck
Roggeman. |
|
Sunil
Smith |
Monterey
County Herald |
"Call it confidence, call it
a momentum builder," Alisal coach Sunil Smith said.
"We just needed a victory going into our league
opener." |
