Week
2 By The Numbers
|
9000 |
A
Salinas area-record 9000 fans attended the highly-anticipated
showdown between national powerhouse De La Salle and Palma. |
375 |
Carmel
quarterback Jeff Foudy threw for an eye-popping 375
yards in a 42-41 loss to Handsworth of British Columbia.
Three Padre receivers hauled in 100+ yards worth of
receptions. |
13 |
The
ball-hawking Santa Cruz defense has forced an area-best 13
turnovers. |
9 |
The
haves and have-nots: 8 area teams remain undefeated, while 9
teams are still winless. |
3 |
It's
showdown time between two of the top leagues in the Central
Coast Section: this week features 3 marquee games
between the powerful West Catholic Athletic League and our
local Tri-County Athletic League. All 6 teams are ranked in
the CCS Top 15 by the San Jose Mercury: San Benito(#11) hosts
Bellarmine (#9), Salinas (#7) hosts St. Francis (#3), and
Palma (#2) travels to Serra (#8). |
2 |
2
teams have yet to score a touchdown: Alvarez has scored one
field goal, and North Salinas has registered one field goal
and one safety. |
0 |
SCCAL
powers San Lorenzo Valley, Aptos and Watsonville are a
combined 0-7 so far this season. On the other hand,
Soquel, Scott's Valley and Santa Cruz are a combined 6-0. |
0 |
The
De La Salle program limped out of Salinas Saturday with 0
victories: the Palma freshman won 43-26; the Palma JV's won
17-14; the Palma varsity tied 7-7. |
0 |
The
Seaside defense has not been scored upon this year; the only
score registered against the Spartans was a San Diego
interception return in week 1. |
Note:
We still need game stats from last week's Seaside vs.
Washington (Fremont) game. Any help getting us the score by
quarter, scoring breakdown and individual game stats would be
greatly appreciated.
