The Scotts Valley Falcons played the St. Francis C.C. Catholic Sharks at Scotts Valley High School. The weather was clear and the field conditions were good. The Sharks entered the game with 2 wins and 4 losses this year. The lady Sharks showed up for the game ready to compete and challenge the Falcons ladies. The scoring started for the Falcons in the 9th minute when Jordin Carlson kicked in a goal after an assist from Kailey Payne. The Falcons scored in the 13th minute when Keara McCullough tapped in a goal after an assist from Kailey Payne. The Falcons scored in the 14th minute when Jordin Carlson scored on a breakaway after the long assist from goalkeeper Emily Johnson. The Falcons scored in the 15th minute when Taylor Rohde punched in a goal after the assist from Michelle Hunter. The Falcon ladies scored another goal in the 21st minute when Emily Payne knocked in a header goal after the corner kick from Brittany Kuo. The Falcons scored in the 22nd minute when Emily Payne put in a goal after the assist from Aly Bothman. The Falcons scored in the 29th minute when Madison Black put a goal in the net from 20 yards out after the assist from Kalynn Morano. The Falcon goalkeeper, Emily Johnson had 1 save during the first half. The half ended with the score, Scotts Valley 7 to St Francis 0. The second half started with both teams playing hard. The Falcon ladies scored in the 75th minute when Riley McFall kicked in a goal after the assist from Ranae Maloney. The Falcons scored in the 79th minute when Ranae Maloney scored after the assist from Riley McFall. The Falcon goalkeeper in the second half, Ali Ayers did not have a save. The final score was, Scotts Valley 9 to St Francis 0. The Falcon defense was awesome and kept the Sharks attack to a minimum. The defense was led by goalkeepers, freshman Emily Johnson and junior Ali Ayers. The fullbacks played a good game stopping the Sharks attack, settling the ball while initiating and building a Falcon counter attack. The defensive backfield was led by senior captain Brittany Kuo, senior Kelsey Baskovich, sophomore Kalynn Morano and freshman Kacey Lilly. Also contributing to the great defense was freshman Madison Black and freshman Rachel DuBridge. The midfield played a spectacular game controlling the ball and mounting an attack the whole game. The midfield was led by senior captain Kailey Payne, sophomore captain Jordin Carlson, senior Michelle Hunter, senior Amy McDowell, junior captain Aly Bothman and freshman Madison Black. Also contributing to the midfield play was sophomore Kathryn Balch, sophomore Renae Maloney, sophomore Jaemi Mansfield and sophomore Megan Morris. The Falcon lady forwards played a great game and put relentless pressure on the Sharks defense. The forwards were led by sophomore Emily Payne, junior Keara McCullough, sophomore Taylor Rohde and senior Riley McFall. |
