The Scotts Valley Falcons played the Notre Dame Spirits of Salinas at Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey. The weather was clear while the field conditions were excellent. The Spirits record this year was 1 win, 3 losses and 1 tie.

The first half started with both teams working hard to mount an attack. The Falcons scored in the 17th minute when Keara McCullough fired in a shot at 20 yards after an assist from Amy McDowell. The Falcon ladies continued their assault on the Spirits goal but the shots were not going in. The first half had the Falcons with 8 shots on goal while the Spirits had 1 shot on goal. The half ended with the Falcons 1 to the Spirits 0.

The second half again had both teams fighting for control of the ball. The Falcons scored in the 53rd minute when Jordin Carlson shot in the goal after the assist from Michelle Hunter. The Falcons then scored in the 58th minute when Emily Payne tapped in a shot after a beautiful pass from Amy McDowell. The Falcons had 6 shots on goal and the Spirits had 1 shot on goal the second half. The game ended with the score, Scotts Valley 3 to Notre Dame 0.

The defense had a good night stopping and countering the Spirits attack. The defense was led by freshman goalkeeper Emily Johnson who had 2 saves and the shutout. The defensive fullbacks had a fantastic night taking on the Spirits attempts to make plays, settling the ball and initiating the Falcon attack. The defense was led by senior captain Brittany Kuo, senior Kelsey Baskovich, sophomore Kalynn Morano and freshman Kacey Lilly.

The Falcon midfielders also had a good game controlling the ball and mounting a relentless attack. The midfield was led by sophomore captain Jordin Carlson, senior Michelle Hunter, junior captain Aly Bothman, freshman Madison Black and senior Amy McDowell. Also contributing to the midfield was sophomore Kathryn Balch, senior captain Kailey Payne and sophomore Ranae Maloney.

The forwards were forever pressing the offensive attack and making runs on the Spirits goalkeeper. The Falcon forwards were led by junior Keara McCullough, sophomore Emily Payne, sophomore Taylor Rohde and senior Riley McFall.

The Falcon ladies have a good balance of skilled senior leadership and talented underclassmen. The team is slowly developing and maturing into a solid competitive team.
