The Scotts Valley Falcons played the Los Gatos Wildcats at San Lorenzo Valley High School. The field conditions were excellent and the weather was cool but sunny. The Los Gatos Wildcat ladies are well coached, skilled and competitive.

Both teams started the game by being aggressive and played with intensity. The first goal was scored by Los Gatos in the 16th minute by an own goal by the Falcons. The play continued with both teams playing spirited and trying to control the ball. Los Gatos had 2 shots on goal the first half while the Falcons had 1 shot on goal. The score at half time was, Los Gatos 1 to Scotts Valley 0.

The second half started with both teams playing very well. Scotts Valley scored in the 51st minute after Brittany Kuo kicked a free kick into the Wildcat goalie box and Emily Payne sharply headed the ball into the net. In the 73rd minute Los Gatos scored another goal. The second half had Los Gatos with 4 shots on goal while Scotts Valley had 4 shots on goal. The game ended, Los Gatos 2 to Scotts Valley 1.

Both teams played very well during their match. It was a hard fought battle by both soccer teams. Scotts Valley had relentless pressure on the Wildcat defense. The Falcons were lead by their freshman goalie Emily Johnson who had saved four shots on goal. The defense played very well while holding back the Wildcat attack. The defense was led by senior captain Brittany Kuo, senior Kelsey Baskovich, sophomore Kalynn Morano and freshman Kacey Lilly.

The midfielders had to work hard with their ball skills and control to play with the Wildcats. The midfield was led by senior captain Kailey Payne, sophomore captain Jordin Carlson, senior Amy McDowell, freshman Madison Black and junior captain Aly Bothman.

The forwards played aggressive and gave the Wildcat defense a lot to handle. The forwards were led by senior Michelle Hunter, sophomore Emily Payne, junior Keara McCullough and sophomore Taylor Rohde.

The Falcons played a very good game against an excellent team. The lady Falcons played with heart and the intensity of a good team.
