Aptos edged Monterey 3-2 on Thursday behind a complete-game effort from Mya Najera-White, who recorded all 21 outs in the circle.
The Mariners broke through in the third inning when Emma Burgueno singled to drive in a run, and an error plated two more to give Aptos a 3-0 lead. Burgueno, last year’s team leader in doubles, continues to be a steady presence in the middle of the lineup.
Najera-White allowed two runs on eight hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking two while working through traffic to preserve the one-run advantage.
Nova Neu led Aptos at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance as the Mariners secured the win.
