Week 5 Notes and Key Stats

Week 5 By The Numbers
321	Carmel quarterback Pat Johnston threw for 321 yards and 5 touchdowns and in a 35-14 victory over Greenfield.
22	Watsonville place-kicker Israel Frias has booted 22 extra points so far this season.
14	Long touchdown runs have been the norm this season. Here is a breakdown of each touchdown run for the top 3 area rushing touchdown leaders. Shawn Benjamin, Watsonville (14 rushing touchdowns): 36, 65, 43, 51, 51, 28, 67, 80, 56, 3, 9, 7, 73, and 78 yards. Josh Granstrom, Pacific Grove (9 rushing touchdowns) : 1, 56, 6, 3, 28, 74, 9, 1, and 25 yards. Ronnie Drummer, North Salinas (7 rushing touchdowns): 53, 33, 79, 12, 83, 76, and 25 yards.
10	Santa Cruz avenged 10 consecutive league losses to San Lorenzo Valley with a 33-15 victory over the visiting Cougars.
9	The T-CAL concluded its mandatory two weeks of inter-league play with a 9-1-2 record vs. the MBL. Overall, the T-CAL went 11-4-2 vs. its former league.
4	Watsonville's Matt Gomez intercepted 4 passes in a 59-21 victory over Soquel.
2	Only 2 teams in the quad-league area remain with unblemished 5-0 records, and both hail from the Santa Cruz County Athletic League. Aptos and Watsonville face stiff tests this week before facing off on Friday the 24th at Watsonville.
