Monterey Bay Prep Report

Week 0 Notes and Key Stats

  • The Salinas Californian is reporting that Stevenson quarterback Jack Britton will be lost for the season after suffering a double separation and break of his elbow vs. Burlingame.
  • We're not 100% sure, but it is believed Hollister had not been shut out in a football game for over 10 years. Oak Grove defeated Hollister 17-0 in the 1992 Division 1-4A CCS playoffs. UPDATE: Hollister Freelance sportswriter John Reid was kind enough to drop us an email letting us know Hollister was last shutout 35-0 by Live Oak back in 1995.

Week 0 By The Numbers

99 With his 99 yard effort against Burlingame, Jamie Staples is already just 300 yards short of matching his 2001 rushing total.
63 Local teams were outscored 79-16 : a differential of 63 points in just two games played.
3 Number of defensive scores surrendered by Hollister and Stevenson.
