The St Francis Central Coast Catholic Sharks Varsity Women's basketball team dropped its 3rd game in a row in a close loss 55-53 at the hands of the Soledad Lady Aztecs at the Bornina Athletic Center. The Sharks fell behind by 10 points in the first half and came within 3 at the end of the half. The Sharks were kept in the game by Freshman Kathleen Brown's 12 points and 12 rebounds in the first half. Brown finished with 22 points, 15 rebounds, 2 steals and a block and Junior Erin Laverone contributed 3 points and 5 rebounds in the second quarter. Laverone would finish with 3 points and 10 rebounds. Junior point guard Jessica Ryan tallied 9 points, 3 steals and 5 assists before fouling out late in the fourth quarter. For the Lady Aztecs point guard Jackie Laroco had 23 points, including 3 - 3 point baskets before fouling out in the fourth quarter and forward Chanise Walker who had 15 points. The Sharks 18 turnovers and 9/19 free throw shooting cost them a victory. The Sharks return to the Borina Athletic Center on Friday at 5:30 PM to face Downtown College Prep of San Jose a CCS Division V qualifier last year.
