Alisal Notes and Quotes
The Alisal Soccer Boys have put themselves in prime position to win their first trophy of the young season as they breezed past Prospect High in the final game of group play. in the Oak Grove Gold Cup. Alisal finished atop their group and will play in the final on Saturday, Dec. 17, at 7:00 p.m. at Oak Grove High. Alisal will have be playing the host school as Oak Grove finished first in their Group A. Senior Eduardo Avalos opened the scoring with a lovely right-footed strike that found the back of the net. Sophomore Willy Miranda provided the service for Avalos. Two minutes later, Junior Lorenzo Vasquez found the net with a superb piece of footwork to get loose in the box and strike it past the keeper for the first of his two goals. Jose "Smiley" Camacho provided the assist. The Trojans were up 2-0, after only four-minutes into play. Alisal's Willy Miranda added another late in the first-half, and the Trojans were cruising with a 4-1 lead. It would stay like this for the remaining forty-minutes as the Trojans failed to score a goal in the second half. Nevertheless, Alisal played a confident game as they were never really under any pressure from Prosepect. The Trojans will play in the final, but not before facing Back-to-Back-to-Back Northern California Champs Concord De La Salle on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in Concord. It's a grueling schedule for the nationally ranked Trojans, but they have played well and are riding a streak of superb play. Trojans fans will have their first opportunity to see their team at home as Alisal takes on Seaside on Monday at 5:30 p.m. We'd like to see everyone out there, so do your best to attend and support the team.
