St. Francis S.C.P. Notes and Quotes
The Harbor Pirates traveled to the Borina Athletic center to take on the Saint Francis Central Coast Catholic Women's Basketball team. St. Francis jumped out to an early lead, ending the first quarter up 19-10. Junior Nicole Smith led the first quarter attack with 8 points for the Sharks. A slower second quarter marred by eight Sharks turnovers kept the game within reach for the Pirates at 28 - 18. The Pirates came out ready for the second half besting the Sharks 14-13, despite a late search where the Pirates closed the gap to two points, before Freshman Rochelle Welsh broke free for two 3 point goals, followed by a Harbor foul on Sophomore Annette Ruvalcaba from beyond the arc, and her sinking all three free throws, pushing the game out of reach for Harbor in the last minutes, despite good defense. St. Francis' only scores in the fourth quarter were Welsh's threes and Free Throws by Ruvalcaba and Junior Erin Laverone.
