The Scotts Valley Falcons played Santa Teresa "Saints" High School at their stadium. The field conditions were excellent and the weather was clear. The Santa Teresa ladies entered the game with a 1 win and 2 loss season so far. The Santa Teresa team was young and played very well. The Saints ladies played with determination and heart. The first half started with both teams playing hard and trying to control the tempo of the game. Santa Teresa scored first in the 8th minute when a corner kick was headed into the net. The first half had Santa Teresa with 1 shot on goal while Scotts Valley had 4 shots on goal. The half ended with the score being, Santa Teresa 1 to Scotts Valley 0. The second half had both teams coming out and playing hard. The Scotts Valley team at times dominated and controlled the ball but the Santa Teresa team kept the pace. Scotts Valley scored in the 42nd minute when Jordin Carlson kicked the ball into the net after the assist from Kailey Payne. The second half had Scotts Valley putting 3 shots on goal while Santa Teresa had 2 shots on goal. The game ended with the score being, Scotts Valley 1 to Santa Teresa 1. The Scotts Valley defense played very well and was led by freshman goalkeeper Emily Johnson who had 2 goalie saves during the game. The defense played with intensity and heart while closing down the Santa Teresa attack. The defense was led by senior captain Brittany Kuo, senior Kelsey Baskovich, sophomore Kalynn Morano and freshman Kacey Lilly. The midfield played well and controlled a lot of the balls in the air. The midfield was led by senior captain Kailey Payne, junior captain Aly Bothman, senior Amy McDowell, freshman Madison Black and sophomore captain Jordin Carlson. The forwards played fast and aggressive while putting relentless pressure on the Santa Teresa defense. The forwards were led by senior Michelle Hunter, junior Keara McCullough and sophomore Emily Payne. Also contributing to the Falcon game plan was sophomore Taylor Rohde, sophomore Kathryn Balch, junior Jessica Dibble and sophomore Ranae Maloney. The Falcon ladies have senior leadership and younger players that have good ball skills. The team is working hard, improving and developing into a unified team. |
