Santa Catalina School Notes and Quotes
It was a windy and foggy afternoon in San Francisco for what looked to be the Cougar's toughest game of this season.

Sacred Heart opened fast and powerfully and quickly had the Cougars on their heels and under a lot of pressure.

Sacred Heart opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a long high ball that barely squeezed between the bar and Sara's fingers. It did not look good for the Cougars, but somehow they began to pull it together and organize their defense, and begin to disrupt Sacred Heart's play. Another long high ball in the 29th minute found the back of the Cougar's net, but still they rallied, beginning to keep possession and move the ball around. Their growing confidence was rewarded with a fine goal in the 37th minute from Daniela following up great combination work from Kate and Blair.

The Cougars opened the second half very much in control. the Sacred Heart players seemed frustrated and on the verge of losing their cool, unable to contain the quick passing play of the Cougars. Sacred Heart had a great chance to put the game away in the 46th minute when they won a PK. All the Cougars and their fans breathed a collective sigh of relief as it soared over the bar!

Fast and furious the Cougars came back, with Blair getting two great opportunities and Daniela one. We could not get it past their goalie. In the 65th minute Kate landed extremely hard on her knee was was forced to come off the field. Maddy had been injured earlier, so the Cougars were reduced to 10 players for the remaining 15 minutes. Still they attacked! But Sacred Heart was shaping up to preserve their one goal lead, so Daniela, as a single target player had an almost impossible task of trying to get through their defense. In the very last minute, the Cougars won a free kick, but despite April's best effort, we could not get it past their keeper!

The Cougars started with only one sub, and in the end were down to only ten players, but they never stopped attacking and playing with heart. They could walk away from this game with their heads held high!
