The Cougars came prepared for another tough match. North Salinas played hard and fast, but with none of the dirty play that characterised the Stevenson game. Also unlike the Stevenson game, all the subs had some playing time, which benefited those still visibly tired from the last game. Our backs did a great job of shutting down the lightning speed of Tannia Hernandez, giving up only a couple of dangerous shots on gaol. Overall the Cougars out-shot North Salinas 20 to 7. Ryann opened the scoring in the 37th minute putting in rebounding shot off the keeper from Sarah Luksik. Right before the half, Meredith scored from a PK. After a shut out in the first half playing goal, Sarah Wright found the back of the net twice - a solo break in the 73rd minute and from an assist Sarah Luksik. Laura Wright did a tremendous job of attacking out of a defending midfield position to have four solid shots on goal! Shelby Carroll maintained the shut out in the second half. North Salinas's goalie was extremely good at coming off her line and dealing with our solo breakaways. She stopped at least four goals that any lesser goalie would have given up. |
