Dylan Lee opened the scoring with a long, low free kick to the far post from 35 yards out; it appeared the that the North Salinas keeper never saw the ball. Conor Boulger dribbled to the end line in the 32nd minute, pulled back and crossed in to Anthony Melo running on who finished nicely with one touch. In the 79th minute, Luis Lopez dribbled hard into North Salinas territory, beat his man to the corner and finished with a strong cross that was redirected into the goal by a North Salinas defender; for the second match in a row, Palma benefited from an opponent's "own goal" during the last minute of the match. Max Cuevas stepped up from the 1st line several times to make penetrating runs into North Salinas territory with the ball; good job. The defense gave up too many shots tonight. Palma rested four starters in the second half who were still nursing some nagging pains from last week. JV: Palma 1, N. Salinas 2 |
