San Lorenzo Valley blew the game open Wednesday with an 11-run sixth inning to defeat Everett Alvarez 12-2.
The Cougars strung together key hits in the decisive frame as Brooke Reed singled, Bailey Filice drove in two with a single, and Elie Colby, Grace Purtscher, and Skylar Cloyd each delivered run-scoring doubles. Audrey Jouglet also added an RBI single during the surge.
SLV finished with 13 hits, led by Sophia Sarmiento’s three-hit performance. Purtscher, Jouglet, Filice, Colby, and Cloyd each drove in two runs.
Purtscher struck out six over 4.2 innings before Cloyd closed it out in relief. Behind the plate, catcher Audrey Jouglet threw out two runners attempting to steal, helping SLV control the game defensively.
