Fifth-Inning Surge Lifts Aptos in Season Opener

Aptos opened its season in commanding fashion Tuesday, pulling away for a 10–0 win after a decisive fifth-inning rally.

After building an early lead, the Mariners broke the game open with a seven-run fifth. Kalina Healy drove in a run after being hit by a pitch, Mya Najera-White and Lanies Nunez each delivered RBI singles, Cara Allshouse worked a bases-loaded walk, and Sophia Marin added another run-scoring hit to cap the outburst.

Aptos first got on the board in the opening inning and added another run in the third on a wild pitch to extend the advantage before the late surge.

In the circle, Najera-White earned the win, allowing just two hits over five scoreless innings while striking out nine and walking one. The Mariners showed patience at the plate, drawing six walks, and stayed aggressive on the basepaths with five stolen bases.

A strong all-around performance gave Aptos a confident start to the new season.
