North Monterey County escaped with a 7-6 walk-off win Thursday in a tense finish against Everett Alvarez.
The Condors struck first when Ariana Jimenez brought home a run in the opening inning, and Sophia Ortiz added a two-run home run in the second to build an early advantage.
Everett Alvarez surged ahead 6-5 in the seventh, setting up late drama, but North Monterey County answered immediately. Jimenez delivered a clutch double to even the score before Alyssa Diaz brought home the winning run on a ball in play.
Ariana “Sky” Makela went the distance in the circle with 11 strikeouts, while Samantha Scharton, Nya Ascencion, and Makela each recorded three hits as the Condors totaled 14 hits in the win.
