Aptos High Varsity Softball bested Argonaut Varsity Mustang 4-3 on Tuesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three in the top of the seventh when Emma Burgueno scored after tagging up.

Gwen Vaca collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Vaca singled in the fifth inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the seventh inning.

A double by Catie Strieff put Argonaut Varsity Mustang on the board in the bottom of the first.

Argonaut Varsity Mustang added one run in the third after Bailey Baker doubled to center field on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.

In the top of the seventh inning, Aptos High Varsity Softball went back into the lead after Kailani Aguayo doubled down the left field line, and Burgueno scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.

Mya Najera-White earned the win for Aptos High Varsity Softball. The pitcher allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking five. Hailey Dewald took the loss for Argonaut Varsity Mustang. The right-handed pitcher went seven innings, surrendering four runs on nine hits, striking out eight and walking two.

Aptos High Varsity Softball piled up nine hits in the game. Aguayo drove the middle of the lineup, leading Aptos High Varsity Softball with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 3-for-4 on the day. Vaca and Aguayo each collected three hits for Aptos High Varsity Softball.

Jewels, Strieff, and Baker each drove in one run for Argonaut Varsity Mustang. Strieff went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Argonaut Varsity Mustang in hits. Davis paced Argonaut Varsity Mustang with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up five walks for the game. Strieff stole two bases.
