Palma Varsity Chieftains Loses Despite Out Hitting Woodside Varsity Wildcats

Palma Varsity Chieftains fell 4-3 to Woodside Varsity Wildcats on Saturday at San José City College despite out-hitting them eight to five. Reese Amaral, Analysia Rocha, Maya Martinez, and Ashlyn Urmanita each collected two hits for Palma Varsity Chieftains.

Palma Varsity Chieftains fell behind by four runs in the third inning, but then tried to fight back. Palma Varsity Chieftains closed the gap by scoring on a triple, a single, and a sacrifice fly.

A double by Victoria Torsch put Woodside Varsity Wildcats on the board in the bottom of the first.

An error extended the Woodside Varsity Wildcats lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning.

Hannah Walker earned the win for Woodside Varsity Wildcats. The righty surrendered eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one. Sophia Cardinale (SCU)?? took the loss for Palma Varsity Chieftains. The hurler went six innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits, striking out six and walking two.

Rocha, Martinez, and Keilani Pato-Guardado each drove in one run for Palma Varsity Chieftains. Amaral stole three bases.

Torsch went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Lacey Barstad went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Woodside Varsity Wildcats in hits. Woodside Varsity Wildcats were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Barstad made the most plays with six.
