Carmel Varsity Padres Fall To Mountain View Varsity Spartans Despite Strong Effort From Lily Beals

Lily Beals collected four hits in four at bats, but Carmel Varsity Padres lost to Mountain View Varsity Spartans 13-9 on Saturday at Carmel Middle School. Beals singled in the sixth inning, singled in the first inning, singled in the third inning, and singled in the fifth inning.

Despite the loss, Carmel Varsity Padres did collect 15 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Mountain View Varsity Spartans had 15 hits on the way to victory.

Mountain View Varsity Spartans got on the board in the top of the first inning after Allison Marcelino doubled, scoring one run, Naila Rocha singled, scoring two runs, and E Jamtgaard singled, scoring two runs.

Mountain View Varsity Spartans added two runs in the third. Jamtgaard singled to center field, making the score 7-0.

Carmel Varsity Padres scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Nicole Tapson singled, scoring two runs, Beals singled, scoring one run, and Chloe LeMaster hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs.

Marcelino earned the win for Mountain View Varsity Spartans. The pitcher allowed 15 hits and nine runs (eight earned) over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking one. Ava Mangiapane took the loss for Carmel Varsity Padres. The starter went seven innings, giving up 13 runs (six earned) on 15 hits, striking out four and walking four.
