Gilroy Varsity Mustangs easily dispatched Westmont Varsity Warriors on Tuesday, 13-0.

Gilroy Varsity Mustangs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Ariela Yslava doubled, scoring one run, Bam Mendoza singled, scoring two runs, Jennie Hernandez doubled, scoring one run, and Averi Peters singled, scoring one run.

Gilroy Varsity Mustangs added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Westmont Varsity Warriors committed an error, and Peters singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Gilroy Varsity Mustangs scored six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Peters doubled, scoring one run, Dani Wilson singled, scoring one run, Andrea Alvarez singled, scoring two runs, and Mendoza singled, scoring two runs.

Yslava led things off in the circle for Gilroy Varsity Mustangs. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Delaney Pound led things off in the circle for Westmont Varsity Warriors. The starting pitcher allowed 16 hits and 12 runs (11 earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking none.

Gilroy Varsity Mustangs accumulated 18 hits in the game. Alvarez went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Gilroy Varsity Mustangs in hits. Peters and Mendoza each drove in three runs for Gilroy Varsity Mustangs. Caitlyn “Beans” Correia, Wilson, Yslava, and Hernandez each collected multiple hits for Gilroy Varsity Mustangs.
