On Friday night, December 2, 2005, in the second round of the Gilroy Mustang Classic the Saint Francis Central Coast Catholic Sharks varsity girls basketball team fell to the North Monterey County Condors 61-57, marking their second four point loss in the tournament. This loss eliminated St. Francis from the tournament. The Sharks fell behind in the first quarter in 4/13 shooting from the floor and two untimely turnovers. While improving in the second quarter on six points and six rebounds from Freshman center Katherine Brown, the Sharks ended the first half down 37-25, on a poor man-to-man defensive effort. The Sharks came back in the third quarter and outscored the Condors 15-6 to bring them with 3 at the end of the third period. The fourth quarter was a back and fourth effort, marked by poor Sharks shooting and untimely turnovers in the last minute of the game with the Condors securing the win by outscoring the Sharks 18-17. For the Sharks junior guard Nicole Smith finished with 20 points, Freshman center Katherine Brown finished with her second double-double of the season with 13 points and 17 rebounds and freshman Rochelle Welsh scoring 7 points and 5 rebounds. For the Condors, Michelle Smith had 23 points, Allison Wendt had 9, including 7 for 7 at the charity line.
